Serve Credit Union shares Financial Literacy Resources with Iowans looking to enter Public Safety Careers

Serve team members visited the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, consisting of law enforcement personnel from across Iowa, as well as the Hero Academy, a week-long camp organized by the Des Moines Police Department, the Des Moines Fire Department, and the Iowa National Guard for young women in their late teens who are interested in public safety careers.

During both visits, the credit union sponsored a meal, and shared financial literacy information through an intensive session of their financial wellness initiatives known as “Membership Academy”. This program aims to recognize the goals of its members and explore methods to enhance and sustain various aspects that contribute to their overall financial well-being. Serve CU’s Financial Responders approach is characterized by enthusiasm and dedication, utilizing an interactive education center along with their own benefits and solutions to assist members in achieving and celebrating their success.

“These groups are in a stage of life where they are making big changes and entering a new chapter, and we want to thank them in advance for their service and help provide them with free financial literacy tools that can help them make the most out of their careers,” said Hayley Vanderpool, Marketing and Member Events Coordinator at Serve Credit Union. “The Membership Academy is available to all of our members, no matter their occupation. But it was important to us to extend this benefit to those on the front line, because if they are overwhelmed by their finances while on the job, they’re not at their best to protect themselves and serve our communities. True to our Membership Academy motto, when it comes to your finances, we want to be first on scene.”

TIME FOR A CHECKUP! Rate + Refinance Review with SCU!

Your physical wellness depends on regular checkups, so why not give your financial wellness the same attention?

A Rate + Refinance Review is a great way to understand and explore how your debts from multiple institutions can be consolidated into your one Serve Credit Union membership, and potentially improve your current financial situation. Or at the very least, give you the confidence of knowing that you’re already in a great spot!

While mortgage loans may be the most commonly refinanced, you can also refinance auto, personal, student, and credit cards (aka balance transfer)! The benefit of refinancing your loans from other Financial Institutions could include lowering your interest rate or monthly payment, or changing the length or type of loan.

So schedule your annual physical, your trip to the dentist, and book a Rate + Refinance Review with SCU! You’ll never regret putting your financial wellness first!

  1. Schedule a virtual or in person Rate + Refinance Review

  2. Prepare for your review by collecting information about the debts you would like to be considered during the review

  3. Contemplate the guidance provided in your review and make choices based on what’s right for you and your family
